Townsville dominated a fiery reptile rumble to record a comprehensive 75-43 NBL win over Cairns on Friday night.
The Taipans shot out to an early lead in the first quarter but when the Crocs found their feet, they ran away with the emphatic victory.
Townsville fought back through some handy work by big man Luke Schenscher (12 points) to go into the first break with a lead of eight points.
Jacob Holmes was rock solid under the net with seven rebounds in the first quarter and 15 for the game.
The home side streaked ahead in the second period as sharp-shooter Michael Cedar stamped his mark on the game, scoring 10 points in short succession including two long bombs from beyond the arc.
Crocodiles import Eddie Gill (12 points) chimed in with two quick baskets late in the term to push the margin out to 17 at half-time.
The Taipans could not stem the flow of points in the third, allowing the home side to run out to a 28-point lead.
Crocs shooting guard Peter Crawford found his range in the final quarter to finish with 14 points and the 32-point rout was complete.
